***Written in the scrawling, but neat handwriting of Zesstra Riknueth. The
writing suggests that this is not her native alphabet, as the S's and F's
are very elongated. The report is sealed and deposited in the Captain's
inbox, so as to prevent something from being mysteriously "added" or
"attached" to it.
Captain Von Stahl,
I am submitting this report in an attempt to bring to your attention
something I feel warrants a very thorough investigation.
Last night, I took a break in between patrols to stop into the Black Dragon
Inn for refreshment. Upon entering, I noticed a few patrons here and there,
nothing too unusual. One woman, (insert description of Nathadiya here) had
entered just before I did, and she went into the bathroom. Normally this
would not be cause for alarm, however, allow me to continue. Another guard,
Armswoman Makaiki I believe her name is, came in off duty, looking very much
disturbed. As she approached the bar, I inquired as to what the cause of her
discomfort was, and the confided to me that she had just then witnessed a
murder outside the Inn, and that the murderer had been female, though she
did not get a close enough look to positively identify her. The murderer had
entered the Inn. Immediately I remembered having seent he one woman enter
the bathroom. Before I could investigate, another woman walked out of the
bathroom, entirely different in appearance than the first (insert
description of the altered appearance Nathadiya here). Knowing full well how
small those bathrooms are, I suspected that this was the same woman I saw go
in, but she had somehow altered her appearance. I let Makaki know of my
suspicions through a brief exchange of body language, and she affirmed that
I was understood.
Before we could intervene, however, the first woman I saw go in exited the
bathroom as well. She proceeded to another woman (description of Arzach
here), who I later found out is called Arzach, kissed her on the cheek, and
turned to face Makaki and I. She smiled then, revealing a most unusual set
of teeth. Very much vampire-like in nature, they were silver, instead of
normal white teeth. She fled the Inn before either of us could stop her. I
approached the woman she had kissed on the cheek, and inquired as to whether
or not the other woman was known to her, informing her that if she
associated wit vampires she would be brought in for questioning. She
informed me that the woman was not a vampire, and that she in fact was her
daughter. I was unable to get a straight answer as to what manner of
creature the two are, though I did ask to see Arzach's teeth. They were the
same silver in color, and elongated, though not really fang-like. I asked
the woman if she would mind coming to the guardhouse for questioning by a
magistrate, informing her of the reasons for our suspicion, citing the
murder. At that time, the first woman who had exited the bathroom tried to
leave via the kitchen, and Armswoman Makaiki stopped her. I shall let her
fill in her own details. Arzach amiably agreed to the questioning, however,
it was at that time that Magistrate Segovax came into the Inn.
The questioning did not go well, as Arzach seemed to be evading the
questioning. She did admit, however, that she is not a citizen. I am not
sure what happened next, as the other woman started babbling about hearing
voices and fainted dead away in her chair. I suggested that either Makaiki
or myself go outside to investigate the area that Makaiki had stated the
murdered body was dropped, and she volunteered. I volunteered to take the
fainted woman to the guardhouse to soend the night and recieve medical
attention, and Magistrate Segovax agreed. After I picked the woman up and
proceeded for the door, she awoke, demanding to be put down and stating that
she is a citizen. I asked for her paperwork, and she told me that it was at
her house. I escorted her to her house (directions from the Black Dragon inn
given herre), and she produced papers that looked authentic to my scrutiny.
I asked the woman how long she had been in the Inn before she came out of
the bathroom, and she said it had been about 20 minutes. She stated that
upon entering, she had become violently ill and had gone to the bathroom to
be sick. I asked if she remembered seeing anyone else in there, and she
became confused and said that the only thing she remembered was going in,
being sick, having a cool rag placed to her forehead, and then nothing until
she was stopped by Makaiki while trying to leave. This struck me as VERY
odd, as I had seen her first-hand come out of the bathroom, and stand around
the hearth area for a good 15 minutes or so until she tried to leave.
Something about this whole thing did not feel right to me. I have lived by
my instincts for over one hundred years now, and when I say this woman was
hiding something, it is with the utmost conviction. There is something not
right, and I implore you to investigate this further. I do not believe
Makaiki found a body or any evidence, but she said she saw it happen with
her own eyes. This woman has something wrong with her, and if she was indeed
telling the truth, then something else is afoot.
Signed by my hand and with Respect,
Zesstra Riknueth
