On the evening of Loredas, 23rd of Last Seed, both His Honour Jald Fohan and myself were alerted by a distraught citizen over an apparent duel in the inn.

Upon arrival, we found the suspects, a drow (inster description of Narrac), and a boy of Nippangui or Xiunlan origin (insert description of Gatana) locked in combat.

Observing the situation, His Honour decided that the fight would best be interrupted by throwing at chair at them. And so, with myself moving off to the other side of the pair, the magistrate lifted and hurled a chair.

The drow, using the distraction, cast some sort of spell which allowed him to turn into a blot of darkness--how he felt being a walking blot of darkness would help him is a mystery limited to the drow mind--and fled after I shouted a warning that they cease hostilities and lay down their weapons. I threw an axe at him, but observed no affect on the first escapee.

The remaning suspect, apparently angered over the loss of his foe, turned on myself and the magistrate, first throwing an exotic sort of sword or swordbreaker at my torso, which I deflected, and then squaring off with the magistrate.

As the two were occupied, I came up on the man/boy's back, who turned int he last few moments, forcing me into a charge, and stabbed him in the thigh, which in turn resulted in him sprawling out on a table.

After hauling the boy onto the floor and pinning him, I ordered him to roll and present his wrists for shackling. Magistrate Fohan, perhaps in some cultural gesture, asked the boy--who had been bragging that our cells would not hold him--if he wished to end his shame by taking his life at that moment. The boy chose this moment to enact some sort of magic which bled him into a shadow (read: lame). He escaped.

Weapons discarded by the boy have been recovered, and are being delivered with this report for examination byu specialists.
