 A package, containing a pair of letters, one bearing the Lord Protector's seal, the other open, clearly written with the Chanclerry cipher, arrive at Captain von Stahl's office, on the dawn of Rain's Hand 12th.

So reads the note accompanying the package:

 Vorfon von Stahl,
A pair of nights ago, vorfon ul-Arren Aginor took leave on Drache towards Nerxmor, to meet there with the unti of Watchmen he had dispatched towards Valkthres. He left in management of his correspondence, with order to hand you this package on today's date. Also, I judge it necesary that you examine this letter we received several hours ago.

The first letter, a small piece of rolled and sealed parchment, reads:

 Menxvan's light, Captain,
As you are reading this, I should already by in Nerxmor, meeting the men that are to accompany me to Valkthres. Recent brigand and Assi activity had left the Watch thin on resources, and we could spare only a couple of dozens of men. More may soon follow as reinforcements, but as for now, these are the only reserves we can count on. For this reason and others, I have decided to personaly partake in the operation of securing the settlement of Valkthres and its surrounding region. Please, send the group we discussed as soon as possible.

Attatched is the letter of the honourable Abraxas ul-Bralk Caros, Magistrate of the Realm, detailing the progress of his and vorfon Branth Truxton's volunteers in securing Parmi.
