From tagert at sorcery.net Sun Jun 4 03:24:10 2006 From: tagert at sorcery.net (Shaun Maguire) Date: Sun, 4 Jun 2006 18:24:10 +1000 Subject: [Royal Guard] Patrol Report Message-ID: <000001c687b0$41467c10$0300a8c0@tagert> Guards report, Arms-Recruit Marqhen Date of incident: The third day of Mid Year in the four hundred and seventy-sixth year from the founding of Tagrana. (OOC: 3rd of June, 2006) Time of incident: Halfway past the Second Night Bell (8pm) Encountered within the BlkDragon Inn a man, matching (include description of NightBane). During a conversation the man drew his rapier defensively. He passed out after a time and, when attempted to rouse him, the man changed form, evidently a werewolf of some-kind. After shifting he proceeding to damage the inn and almost hit myself. When calmed, he did appear sorry for his actions. No charges were filed. Just a note to the rest of the guard that this subject may be quite erratic in his behaviour and should be watched as he could be dangerous should he once again lose control of himself. Rest of the patrol passed uneventfully. The Sargeant Kirin Arnise, of whose name I acquired by the roster in the Guardhouse by description of said person. This night, Lorhest, Sendepenta 24, I was in the inn, trying to relax when there was an emotional scene nearby. I got up with the intention of giving the ailing girl a simple blessing to try and help to calm her. Beforehand, I did a detection spell of the purpose of finding out her mortal status, as it were. She came up red. It turned out, this woman was a vampire. The woman's name is Aleshanee, and her friend is Vulspeth. I proceeded to do what any citizen would do and cast a spell aiming to destroy her. I am well within my rights to do so. One Arms-Recruit Marqhen was there with me, and aided me rather well, I must say. I proceeded to cast a rather powerful Turn Undead spell, which harmed both Vulspeth and Aleshanee. The man in question, Kirin Arnise, then decided to stop it all. A man with a snake's head [Toxin] cast a Darkness spell, which I countered with Light. However, we get to the part of which I am writing to you. Kirin Arnise thought it best to allow the two abominations to go away free. He granted them amnesty in the name of his god, rather than doing what is right by the law. I am a chosen of Kelemvor, a Doom Guide, one sworn to destroy the undead at all costs. This man kept me from doing that, allowing Vulspeth to carry Aleshanee away because she was a child. I am enraged by this action. I request that this man receive a grave punishment. It would be ideal if he were stripped of his office and removed from your ranks as he is clearly incapable of upholding the laws of this city. He opted for a banishment, which was not within his rights as a guard, nor in the rights of the vampires, as they have none. Because he allowed them to leave, he allowed them to continue feeding and I feel very strongly that this is not what the Guard is there for. Is there a basis in the claims of the Guard being lenient? Being only around when it is convenient for them? I would like to think not, but if this man, this Kirin Arnise, is allowed to continue on this path, it will only bring discontent among the masses and disrespect and ridicule to the Guard. Myself and the Arms-Recruit Marqhen have signed this. As a note, this is not to say that the Arms-Recruit agrees with my request, only that he was there at the time. I write you this letter to explain my actions in response to the accusations made by one Cormllenaa. Priest of what so ever deity is so zealous as to let his or her favored to strike out violently first and ask questions later, or indeed ask no questions at all. This night in the Black Dragon Inn, I came off patrol to relax as par usual. Only to find a fellow guardsman, entangled in a situation. Marqhen is a responsible and admirable arms-recruit. Though I have only the authority to recommend promotion, I would strongly advise approval however this is not why I write. Instead it is because I did as my duty entails, I took command of the situation and halted both parties from destroying the inside of the good tavern. From what I have witnessed as well as what others have told me of the nights events those who are accused of undead did nothing illegal, despite the fact that they existed. In response to the accusation that I acted upon the will of Tyr... I did no such thing, nor will I branded a zealot! I acted upon judgement of the situation, which is well within my office. In the end and upon investigation, with blood as a sample... The shielded young that was held as undead... is no such thing, it is instead a half drow, however the creature holding it was an undead... Rather than let them both be destroyed and a tavern gutted... again... it was wisest to let them leave, to give them impromptu banishment as a form of mercy since no other would do so. I justify my actions as not saving the lives of a drow and undead, but in keeping the cival peace and stopping an all too eager individual from getting a sought after kill in the public domain. It is the guard who shall dispense justice in this city, no priests, not even I acting as a priest shall use my lords name to justify an act of violence! If it is the will of the magistratum, I shall resign my rank and title. And shall impose upon myself a just punishment of banishment, where mercy has put me. I will sit on my hands no longer, I sought to help the people of Drache and the city itself. I will take my leave of this place, then and bring light where there is only dark. I should hope that this is not a final report, but I will respect the will of the city. Honored reader, I thank you for your time. Sergeant Kirin Arnise
