At the toll of the third night bell or perhaps somewhat hence, having chanced to overhear unsavory words between the guard of prior mention and one tespin, Aeron Ktrenna, understood to hold the title of Floxod in the land of Arangoth; and having judged it unseemly indeed for one of the Ranks to so threaten with death a member of the gentry; and believing further and forthwith that such conduct so taints the public impression of the Royal Guard, about which much corruption is already unfortunately rumored; I, Liadhan ul-Artemisia Albesce, holding in the Guard the rank of Sergeant and the office of Senior Healer, approached the Corporal and suggested he desist. The Corporal suggested my auditory acuity of super-human nature (which, I confess, is true), for his voice had been low in threatening the Floxod thus. This Guard begs exception for having overheard perhaps what she ought not to, but submits this complaint all the same; first, as such conversation transpired in a public pub, and, further, one known to traffic in citizens of all sorts of extra-sensory perception; and second, perhaps more importantly, in that the Corporal thereafter made every effort to physically and verbally intimidate myself, in words and in body language casting aspersions upon my apparent youth, my height, the desperation of the Guard in so posting such a "miscreant" to my assignment, and the corruption of the Royal Guard so demonstrated in having affronted himself; and lent no credence or respect to either my post or my rank. One believes Corporal Merin Bithsbane a deplorable example of the Royal Guard's public face, but cannot suppose to suggest the proper course of action. Message-ID: MEMORANDUM FOR RECORD Office of Sergeant Arnise to Captain RG Commanding Subject: Explosion and burning of civillian buildings and uncovering of unnamed cult. Honored Sir, it is with burns, bruises, and a heavy heart that I write this report, the circumstances are to say the least, unpleasant. Surely you heard or felt the explosion that rocked the Wharf district last night, which seems to merely be the result of far more sinister implications. Before explaining the explosion itself I will endevour to bring to light what is in my opinion a more serious matter; in the past few weeks I had been hearing the rumor mill churn this way and that and though mostly it is hear say and misinterpretation there has been merit to disappearing women in the Wharf district. Unwanted or street wandering types... working girls if you will, thus a lack of official attention. I did take it upon myself to look into this, expecting little more than a murderer on the loose. What I found was much worse. On the night before last I divined through His sight a man tattoo'd in horrid markings and masked (detailed drawing and scribbles included with report) beat some working girls as well as a surviving victem by the name of Lil`Bee. I called upon what contacts within the district I have and the one who proved most valuable, a young petty thief has now paid the price for doing an honest thing. Knowing I was over my head I immediately requested the aid of the good Lt. Trayin and we did some minor detective work, my contact by the name of Falcon tipped me off to wait by the docks last night around midnight. I felt it may have been a trap but in fact when the Lt and I arrived we observed a strange ship dock with the city at a very peculiar hour (description of vessal, drawings of markings and symbols on its hull and sails) The crew members while appearing human were.... off... if you catch my meaning, no other way to describe it unless you have seen for yourself so with regret I cannot explain what race they may or may not have been. We watched and waited and decided to act upon our suspician, providing writs to search the incoming vessal and asking permission to board we were welcomed on deck and given a tour... nothing out of the ordinary aside from the layout within, once again it can only be described as... off. Lt. Trayin departed for a short while to investigate the markings and I stayed to over watch the ship from a safe distance. I observed a round common looking man climb abored and meet with the first mate, for a half hour or more they both disappeared below decks and he departed. I took note of where he went and stayed with the ship for the Lt to return. It was at about this point that the explosion rocked the through the entire district and I ran to the sight to see the apartment my contact had taken residence in was blasted and burning. Others came to assist including the guard fire brigade, Lt. Trayin, a civillian human (Chris Tango), and a Drow female (Luna NightPath). I took it upon myself to breach the building in order to save the young children inside, most were clever enough to escape but our combined efforts saved the children not caught in the initial explosion. Inside we found the body of one of these cultists (body NOT included in report) I have kept brought the body to the guard house for study and scrying of his markings to determine from where they have come from, or perhaps a divine signifigance that drives them. On the rooftop evacuating the last of the children we were engaged by multiple cultists who with the building so badly damaged and the weight and movement on its roof brought it crashing down. I write this both apologetic for the loss of life and building, as well as feircely desiring official action on this cult that would so actively seek to harm. It is thus that I request that this be posted and made public for the Guard, Royal Church, Magistrates, and any other city officials you deem needing to know. Terrorism like this cannot be tolerated and with permission I will continue my efforts to unfold this mystery. Sincerely, Sergeant Arnise 3rd Platoon SGT of the Wharf Garrison. BLARGHEE ok now that thats over time for the ooc shpeal :D ... if anyone actually read all that.. HURT YOURSELF.. Sgt Kirin Arnise of the Wharf District thru due diligence to duty found and brought this cult to our attention and followed thru on helping to rid our fair city of this evil spawn.. I would like to recommend that he be promoted Armsman Marqhen of the Wharf District thru diligence to duty helped to bring the cult to its knees once he learned of them as well. I would like to recommend promotion for him as well And as a final recommendation I would like to vouch for the ogre Grigor as he has shown restraint when needed and good combat skills when needed. I think he would make a fine guard to join our ranks as he does know how to follow orders as well as shown by his willingness to listen as he helped us to free Drache from the cult. This day marks the end of one tribulation and perhaps the continuation of another, but there is reason to rejoice for the time being as the sea born cult that recently plagued Drache is no more. In this report I will endeavor to explain the incident following the initial investigation into the abnormal vessel docked in the harbor, the explosion and subsequent fire in the Wharf district, and the capture of many innocents including the young priest Lakyle. This past evening I discovered too late to mobalize guards of an impending diversion that turned out to be a full on assault, which was intended to mask the departure of the strange ship that was headquarters to the invading cult. Taking the fight directly to the ship myself, Grigor an ogre who has shown courage, tenacity, and intellignce, and Wolan a sea born creature himself and my entire Platoon engaged and won over the ship in question. I frown upon such abandonment of the Royal Church in favor of a prize like this but without the dicision Lakyle may be lost to us as this ship was unique and sentient, incredibly fast as well, with it we were able to catch up to and halt the fleeing ships with their precious cargo. Upon liberating the pirate crew from their existance and taking possession of the ship myself with all of 3rd Platoon moved to re-enforce the church and engage the rising number of undead, it was only a matter of time before they were subdued. Following which we boarded the unique ship and left to persue the querry in question. Halting them by a whirl pool we boarded them, faught their crew, vanquished their leadership, rescued to captives and made good our escape. I would like to comment on the bravery of Marqhen, he has proven himself a valuable guard and shown ability of a corporal or better, I here by forward an official recommendation for his promotion. Lt. Trayin should in my opinion be awarded a medal for her selfless service for without her I would have perished to the depths of the whirl pool as I was unable to make the jump back to our own ship, she caught me as I fell. I would also like to second the Lt's recommendation and vouch for Grigor's acceptance into the Guard as I feel he would make a valuable armsman. Nothing else follows, Blessed Law Giver grant us deliverance. Sgt. Arnise 3rd Platoon Wharf Garrison -ooc time- Word.. was a cool adventure, hope everyone who got involved had some fun. Message-ID: MEMORANDUM FOR RECORD Onto Captain Von Stahl >From the desk of 3rd Platoon Sergeant Arnise, Wharf Garrison I write this with most interesting news, on this night another bomb was set off inside the inn of the Black Dragon and there was a single fatality, an innocent caught in the blast. Within the one woman known as Inayat was found at the scene, curious as this is her third arrest, though she claims no responsibility in the blast and I am inclined to believe her she has not come to account for the first bomb set, which she did indeed admit to. She has escaped now two times and in my attempts to place her into custody she attempted to take her own life, through divine providence she was saved and Menxruk denied his child. She is now under 24hr watch by myself and two other hand picked guards, suicide watch. Forgive my imprudence, sir but I would like this to serve as a warning to all, including those with ego's bigger than their minds as it has come to my attention that in the Inn itself there has been an influx of violence of late. Ravynetti himself tried to Inayat on sight through the use of some twisted spells, though before he could cast anything down Lt. Trayin talked him down so he is guilty of only disturbing the peace, but when an order is given from a guard to cease and decist and the response is being ignored... I would ask that the guard ignored take immediate action to prevent this from continuing. Less we be ignored on a regular basis and rampent crime become a plague in plain sight of uniformed personel. Regards, Sgt. Arnise -ooc- Hey... don't get ignored and don't put up with it... don't put up with big ego's and more importantly... don't have a big ego when playing, a Guard should lead RP through example and not just smite on sight kind of stuff. Time of incident: Various times over various days, further details available from verbal report. I would first like to apologise for my lack of a formal written report of these events over the past several days. I have given a verbal recounting of each event to a senior guardsman after. The first night, while walking home from the Black Dragon with one Lakyle Stygian, we were accosted on the street by many religious cultists claiming to follow the word of Yexil, an unknown name to myself. During the following melee, despite subduing many of the aggressors Lakyle Stygian was taken and I was rendered unconscious. I would like to make a note that Ravynetti Tivaurd had assisted myself and Lakyle during the attack. After regaining consciousness, I proceeded to the guardhouse to give a verbal report and then went to tell the family. I was assisted with both healing and transportation by Kaybin Thressenoth of the (insert Mark's army!). The next day showed assault upon the Church by an unknown creature, which was dispatched by several others. After that I travelled with Sergeant Kirin Arnise and Lieutenant Lay Trayin in a rescue of Lakyle Stygian. The rescue attempt was successful, however the perpetrators were lost to the sea. Two days later an unrelated incident occurred in which the hearth of the Black Dragon seemed to combust and explode. I am unaware of any casualties, as a fight broke out between two men. They both left the inn and the fight was broken up. They were both issued warnings. Further information offered upon questioning. I have respect for the fellowship of the Guard and of officers, and so have wrestled with the decision to send this letter. This is not to mislead one as to its gravity. While I deem the topic important, it is not quite as world-threatening as one might imagine in Drache. The issue at hand, Captain, is the frequency of Guardsmen found on-duty in taverns. I have heard a number of reports and rumours before but chose not to act until the events of last night. As the Blkdragon Inn is between the Wharf and my home in West Drache, I stopped there for a beer, as is not unusual. Off-duty, no badge. Within I found not only Spell-Lt. Chasingfire, but also Spell-Lt. Duraile - both on-duty. Chasingfire claimed to have just stopped in for coffee (a considerable break), but Duraile later explained he was there to watch out for our soon-to-be Arms-Commander Darkthorne, who was in the inn chatting with Spell-Sgt. Albesce who, I presume, was off-duty as myself. Despite Duraile and Chasinfire's reasonable explanations, the coincidence and image is unacceptable. I realize the Dragon has a reputation, but recent years have dulled its true danger. Its demon population are all bark, no bite, and little criminal activity has emerged from within in the last few years to my knowledge. What it is, is a popular watering hole. Both high caste and commoner are found frequently. Such an establishment, and such a crowd, are the wrong audience to witness on-duty Guardsmen drawing Crown coin cooling their heels. With all due respect, I have trouble enough with the citizens of my district trying to explain the delicacy of Commander Rikneuth's race without tarrying upon the use of Crown time and resources. I know of no other tavern nor inn, even The Double Cross, which receives such special treatment. They have, after all, their own bouncers, and the Dragon itself is only blocks away from the Guardhouse. If this is not sufficient, a polite word to the King's innkeeper on hiring more staff seems more appropriate than city servants. Of course I will acknowledge your decision on this matter, Captain, but I recommend a memorandum to all Guardsman that beer-halls are not acceptable parts of their patrols - with no exceptions. Should they wish to remove their badges and drink as citizens, I have no fears little will be thought the worse of them. If I have overstepped my place in this regard, please let it be known and I shall take such a lesson to heart. I am, Sir, your loyal officer Arms-Lieutenant Soon ul-Xeo Kadmos. Upon closer inspection I found it to be in fact a Drow raiding party (NPC's) lead by an arcane spell caster who was attempting and much to my dismay and the efforts of myself and Lt. Cirion managed to get away with a young child trying to escape them. Two Drow who must live here, one I recognize as Venoch was staring down the large raiding party along with another of his kinfolk. When we finally took it upon ourselves to inform them of the law and that kidnapping wouldn't be tolerated we were assaulted quite immediately, six archers opened fire in two groups. Well coordinated volley's I may add as the group from behind took us by surprise, I do apologize for the lateness of this letter as I was struck by two arrows from behind and barely survived the night. The engagement that followed was swift but the child and its captors have gotten away, though I suspect they may be operating still inside the city, or perhaps we have a path to the underdark beneathe the city itself. Following this not a moment later a half draconic female of some sort was found by myself stabbed twice with gaping wounds in her pregnant belly, a baby lost to be sure and another half dragon by the name of Astral, 9 feet tall, black, gold tusks or horns she was not specific as she was delerious is the creature responsible, I have little love for the many winged, demonic, angelic, or draconic creatures that take up residence around this particular watering hole but we cannot simply kneel down to such violence. Once fully recovered from my injuries I will continue my investigation and any information leading to the apprehention of would be helpful. Sincerely, Sgt Kirin Arnise. My household hit a financial rock, a disaster that was the equivalent of the Titanic's iceberg, which mean sacrificing a lot of non necessities, including my much beloved laptop, because I simply couldn't afford the payments on it. Odd work hours make it difficult to get to a library, and I've been on the outs with all of my so called friends that have internet in their homes, so I haven't been able to even send through the mailing list like I would have liked to. But, now I can get online at work, once a week at least, so I thought I'd make use of the time. Which means, that anyone wishing to take part in roleplay, will have to do so through email, or the mailing list, and be patience with my slow replies. In the days following the arrival of a certain young merchantess, an oriental woman named Li Qai who was, most annoyingly spoiled and cruel, a number of strange things had been seen around the city of Drache, brightly colored mice with wings, a young girl with vivid green leaves for hair, a three and a half foot long lizard that rather closely resembled a miniature fiarytale dragon, though the creature often shifted in colors while one was watching it. But none of these were quite so odd as the creature the young merchantess claimed was her bodyguard. Nightshade, who had, undoubtedly once had a much nicer name than that, had the appearance of a very attractive oriental woman from the waist up, but from the navel down she possesed the body of a large serpent, onyx scaled with an overly of pale blue diamonds. Bringing herself completely upright she would have stood somewhere around ten feet tall, if she used the thick snake's torso for added heigth. Her raven hair, long enough to fall past the beginning of the scales was worn in a multitude of thin, tiny braids, usually spotted with brightly colored glass beads. She went armed only with a short sword and wore only a wide bands of black over her chest, claiming that too much clothing only got in the way of quick movements. There was usually a wide sweep of kohl around almond colored eyes, dusted with pale blue powder. Amazingly enough, while most adults tended to give her wide birth, children flocked to her in droves, and, for a hardened warrior, she was quite content to coil in the streets and play at dolls with little girls, or monster slayer with little boys. The children on the docks were particularly fond of the serpent woman, and it was there that she could be found most often, a little boy perched on her shoulders, a girl or two riding cheerfully along on the serpent body. On that particularly bright day, Nightshade was coiled on one of the docks, showing a little girl how to string shells together to make jewelry, "Grown ups are stupid," the child was saying for the forth time in an hour. The snake lady had been late to meet her, again, after being accosted by people screaming 'demon'. "Not necessarily stupid, just...stubborn. They only know what they've been taught, and some of them have been taught very little. There you are," she tied off the knot and draped a necklace of shells around the girl's neck, "Very pretty." "Still stupid, you aren't a demon, and they should know better." Nightshade shook her head, "I'm surprised they don't think worse, given the menagerie that Mistress Qai brought with her. I'm going to have to speak to her about keeping those creatures better caged. I'm fairly certain that half of them are illegal, and if the Guard ever had suspicion enough to search our home, we would all be in very deep water.
