From nextsynapse at yahoo.com Fri Nov 2 13:33:16 2007 From: nextsynapse at yahoo.com (Ayanula ...) Date: Fri, 2 Nov 2007 11:33:16 -0700 (PDT) Subject: [Royal Guard] Arrest warrant for Zah`Karin Message-ID: <24923.56743.qm@web58809.mail.re1.yahoo.com> It has recently come to my attention that a drow has been involved in numerous disturbances in and around the Black Dragon Inn. From the formal statements given to me by Sssla at the Guardhouse, his name is Zah Karin and can be properly identified as: (description of Zah Karin in drow form follows). Zah had previously been engaged in a bar brawl with the witness several days ago, during which Magistrate Abraxas ul-Bralk Caros intervened and sent the drow fleeing. I arrived on the scene shortly after and attempted to assist the Magistrate in cutting off the escape routes available to Zah from within the Inn. However, he managed to evade capture nontheless by unknown means of escape in which he bypassed the both of us. Just last night I was approached by Sssla inside of the Black Dragon in which he sported numerous blood splatters against his armor. When taken back to the Guardhouse for questioning, he proceeded to describe a woman by the name of Rica, who apparently has some sort of un-returned lust for Zah, making several remarks of such in the Inn. When she retired to her room, one formally occupied by the drow, he said that a blond haired, emerald-eyed human proceeded to immediately follow her up to said room. The sound of scuffling ensued before another patron, Rowen, followed after in an attempt to intervene. After receiving a call for help, Sssla also ran upstairs, only to find Rowen carrying Rica down in his arms. Evidently she had been struck with a poison dart - the same as used in the bar brawl involving Zah several days ago. Soon after the blond haired, emerald-eyed man came down and abruptly left the Inn unchallenged. It is Sssla's suspicion that the man is in fact Zah in disguise. Regardless of the basis for such allegations, the same poison dart used by Zah previously was used in the assault on Rica and the man scene walking up to the room prior to the attack and immediately after lends probable cause to the fact that he was somehow involved and, at the very least, should be brought in for questioning. As it stands, Zah Karin is currently wanted on two counts of attempted-murder and one count of resisting arrest. He is armed with lethal darts and should be approached with extreme caution. Signed, ~Idelle Sarault, Arms-Sergeant of the BlkDragon District Other noted information: I have previously received an anonymous telepathic message from someone in hiding several days ago immediately after the bar brawl involving Zah Karin that may involve an alleged murder-for-hire plot regarding someone by the name of, "Selestia." The information was passed along from a would-be assassin, in which they remarked that Zah wanted this woman dead. While it is hardly credible or even presentable evidence, it may be worth looking into locating and questioning this woman about the incidents past. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? He came to me to describe his attempted capture of Zah for a bounty of 200 crowns and subsequent apprehension of his accomplice, Crimson (description of Littlewing follows). While Zah evidently evaded him, the faerie was not so fortunate and was received by our healers in a very questionable condition, having numerous injuries of relative severity. When Ynros was at my desk describing much of his efforts to me, he made several odd requests in relation to a pending reward. First and foremost he requested diplomatic immunity - something I was taken slightly aback by. The second was for a sum reward of however much would be offered upon sentencing. However, upon examining and talking with Crimson, I decided that Ynros was clearly acting as a vigilante and in attempting to detain Zah, first made an offer that boiled down to extorting money out of him for his freedom to run a muck. Next to that, there was no arrest warrant for Crimson at the time, making his actions even more suspect. As a result, he is now being charged with assault for the injuries incurred upon Crimson. On an additional note, however, Crimson fit the description given to me in statements that fit the "pixie" mentioned prior as his accomplice. Upon being questioned, she confessed to assisting Zah in evading capture from authorities on one occasion, while knowing well his involvement in several attempted murder incidents. She will be ruled on shortly - a sentence that is likely to be only a hefty fine, due to the injuries she sustained through a very illegal detention by a vigilante. Date: Wed, 7 Nov 2007 15:58:29 -0800 (PST) Subject: [Royal Guard] Arrest warrant for Jiromaru Message-ID: <31658.8953.qm@web58805.mail.re1.yahoo.com> On two separate incidents I was contacted anonymously through telepathic messages containing what I would deem as "concerning" statements and admissions. The first such incident was a week ago when Zah Karin and Sss'la had been engaged in a bar brawl. In the process of trying to apprehend Zah, I was contacted by someone of, then, unknown origin claiming that Zah Karin had hired him for a murder for hire plot that was to target someone by the name of "Selestia." The second such incident occurred tonight. I had previously entered the Black Dragon Inn and questioned an individual (description of Jiromaru) about his alleged involvement in aiding and abetting a succubus, as was reported to me casually in conversation one night by (description of Toliver). He was quite abrasive towards my questioning and resorted to insults several times. In response I verbally reprimanded him - something he apparently buckled under as he then vanished instantly. Immediately after his disappearance, [Jiromaru] used the same means of telepathy and mental dialog to convey to me that he was a demon and he invited the Royal Guard and "all of your bounty hunters" to hunt him down. I recognized such a communication to be directly connected to the first instance a week ago. Though this time he continually bombarded me with near constant, incoherent mental statements while I attempted to seek him him out physically. The messages ranged from asking if he would be better off turning himself in to randomly telling me he forgave me. Oddly enough, these all came to me without any ability on my part to respond, as I am not able to transmit telepathic messages to others. Worthy of mention is that he did seem to revert to double-talk after a while, later referring to himself as a reformed angel rather than being a demon in an apparent attempt to ward off legal action. As it stands, [Jiromaru] is being charged with psychic harassment and conspiracy to commit murder. He is suspected of being a demon or having a demonic nature to some degree. In addition, Zah Karin is now also being charged with hiring an assassin in direct connection to [Jiromaru]'s conspiracy charge. Upon being asked what she knew about the situation, she stated to me that she knew well that Jiromaru was solicited by Zah Karin to lure her back to the Drow so that he could murder her, himself. Though obviously not successful in this task, the only other instance in which Jiromaru came anywhere near Selestia, she stated that he was running away from her. These statements collaborate the charges against Jiromaru, but Zah Karin's will now be dropped from hiring an assassin to conspiracy to commit murder. Date: Fri, 9 Nov 2007 17:12:48 -0800 (PST) Subject: [Royal Guard] Four arrest warrants (Assault/Impersonation/Kidnapping) Message-ID: <505854.82837.qm@web58809.mail.re1.yahoo.com> Last night while on a coffee break in the Black Dragon Inn, I noted the presence of a man named, "Rowen." A former convict, Crimson, requested I notify this man about her whereabouts while at the Guardhouse. I approached him and let him know that she wished to visit him and that I was honoring her request to pass along the information. While he reported to me that he had seen her and she was steering as clear as possible from Zah Karin, he became rather nervous and wished to report several incidents. I took him to my office at the Guardhouse where he sat down and explained that a week or two ago, him and another man by the name of, "Rue," were evidently assaulted by three individuals; an undead Minotaur* with horns and a large battle axe, an undead knight* with plate armor, and an unseen "sniper*," as he described it. Rowen described how the three assailants attacked the two of them and stated that it was retaliation for some unknown association that one of them had. Upon further questioning, I didn't receive anything less vague, unfortunately, as to why. His insistence is that he, himself, does not truly know why and counts it as more of a random act of violence. Evidently the aim was to merely rough them up as a "warning." In a later occurrence, Rowen told me that the undead knight returned in disguise [description of Tholat_Drol*] of a member of the Royal Guard. The knight told Rowen that the Guard had apprehended one of his assailants and needed him to accompany to the holding cells for verification. In following the disguised knight, Rowen described a detour, saying that he was told the assailant was being held in another location from the Guardhouse because he was, "too powerful to be contained there." Taken into a remote house/building, he then described falling into a portal that ended up taking him to deep inside of a cave. I was told an undead woman [description of Bone Priestess] attempted to convince Rowen to lay atop of an alter for some form of implantation of spider eggs or spiders themselves. Further questioning did not reveal any more specifics. After refusing to comply, he told me that he ran away from the undead in an attempt to escape, soon finding himself falling into a hole filled with seawater. Upon swimming down through it, he ended up surfacing just off of Drache's south shores. I was later shown the exact spot by Rowen after the interview [description of location with markers follows]. As it stands, those allegedly involved in these two incidents face the following charges: The undead Minotaur and unknown "sniper" face charges of assault. The undead knight/[Tholat_Drol] faces charges of assault, impersonation of a member of the Royal Guard, kidnapping, and conspiracy. [Bone Priestess] is going to be charged with kidnapping and conspiracy. Signed, ~Idelle Sarault, Arms-Sergeant of the BlkDragon District (footnotes on descriptions: I PMed Rowen trying to get nicks that the descriptions corresponded to, but only got, "Bone Priestess," out of him. Dan spoke with me about this earlier and I got the nick "Tholat_Drol" from his logs for the impersonator, which he quickly noted as being, "Lord_Taloth," in reverse, which may very well be the undead knight without any disguise on. If that character is ever in the Inn with a guard present, might want to send the mun a PM to confirm). __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! He was not obviously a demon, and handled himself well. Since I am not trained in the detection of disguised demons, I did not know that he was a demon, and so I didn't detain him. I do know that he dislikes magic users, and seemed very confused about where he was. The demon in question didn't seem particularly threatening, and I don't think he has any particular designs on the city or the country. Maybe he got lost? On a side note, is there any sort of training program for guards in the detection of disguised demons? --Armswoman Kypree _______________________________________________ Royalguard mailing list Royalguard at arangoth.org http://mail.arangoth.org/mailman/listinfo/royalguard_arangoth.org __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Shortly after entering the BlkDragon Inn to begin the sting operation I engaged in friendly conversation with bar staff and patrons so as to appear inconspicuous. Shortly I spotted Corporal Kotalik and Magistrate Brexia, whenceforth all would proceed. The assassin in question, henceforth known as the Dark-skinned sharp-ear bastard, entered and I approached him in a subtle manner by yelling racist remarks at him and thus indicated that I was his contact. As was prearranged Corporal Kotalik blocked the door and we began a line of dobule-patter in an attempt to confuse the Dark-skinned sharp-ear bastard, which appeared to be going quite well until the Dark-skinned sharp-ear bastard had funny friends intervene on his behalf with magical somethings. I tackled the Dark-skinned sharp-ear bastard to the ground and shackled him with null magic shackles - which I wore one half of, protecting myself from said magic - and attempted to render him unkon- unconsk- unsconced at the earliest opportunity. A great deal of magical effects took place what with magical vines and whatnot being pulled out of the arse of the general world to attack us, however I got him in a headlock and maintained it for quite some time. I am not aware of all other details as I was rather busy what with the Dark-skinned sharp-ear bastard attmepting to poke my eyes out and use foul poison darts on me and whatnot whatnot. Shortly an undead person of unknown origins entered and ripped the Dark-skinned sharp-ear bastard's arm, what I had shackled, right off. I hung on as long as I could but shortly therafter the undead person sucked the Dark-skinned sharp-ear bastard through a portal in ihs chest, and the Dark-skinned sharp-ear bastard kind of got sucked into an inch-wide hole and out of my arms. I henceforth cursed and proceeded back to the guard house with the severed arm, which I have entered into the official record as a piece of evidence. I am now going to have a wash to get the blood and whatnot off and proceed to get very bloody drunk. IT was reported to the Commander by another who was with the Lt at the time of the attack and a description given of a woman (desc of Violet attached). It seems from the story told (log available) that the woman attacked the LT thru means of mind rape which is a serious charge. The woman is also found to be quite pungent with scents of spices and such as well. I recommend caution when approaching this woman and that she be detained for mind rape as soon as humanly possible for the protection of our citizenry. Suspicious activity and circumstances revolving around Ynros have lead me to a very thorough investigation into the death of Resque including an expensive, taxing, and all around difficult divination to see the actual events of the murder. Let me first begin by stating that I made an original arrest on Ynros involving assault which he was acquitted of by the honorable Magistrate Wolfram, he was arrested not two days later by Lieutenant Trayin on charges of murder/assassination and again acquitted of his charges by the honorable Magistrate Wolfram. Things have not sat well with me and as I stated in my opening statement I began a very thorough investigation. I found the site of the engagement, the carriage had still not been removed or cleaned up and has since been marked outside the city walls and cleaning crews are working to remove the wreckage. Before they began I conducted the lengthy ritual of divination and watched the events of the battle. Ynros is once again in custody, in the relived experience Ynros fired a very very large crossbow made for slaying large beasts at the carriage which was directly responsible for disabling it and making the killing of Resque much easier. Despite the fact that Ynros claimed to have warned Magistrate Wolfram of the impending danger that does not forgive his actions. The way Ynros conducted himself in the battle was as an accomplice to assassination. I must bring up this rather touchy subject because it has raised very serious concerns in my own heart and mind. I believe in my heart that the Honorable Wolfram acted with the best of intentions, but without proper evidence perhaps the right questions were avoided so not to simply paint someone with blame. However twice Ynros been set free now, and if Ynros is telling the truth a litteral warning and threat went unnoticed by the very same Magistrate, however it may very well be poor communication between the Royal Guard and the Magistrate. As I stated earlier it could be that there was proper evidence which may have resulted in lack of communication. I have the ut-most respect for those within my chain of command, beneathe me and above, and hold Wolfram among the highest of esteemed and established individuals and in no means do annotate this into my report as a means to 'sling mud' as it were. However there is a definite problem and it needs to be found and corrected. Our country, not ourselves. XI. 477. There has been a demon "attack" on the Black Dragon Inn. Fortunately, it was just an imp! It first appeared at night, after a drow (best described as ) began kicking furniture around the inn. I had noticed it at the time, but it was not yet attempting to harm anyone or escape, so I felt that it was best to address the issue of the angry, upset, and violent drow before driving the imp away. Said drow initially dealt with it before I could, by magical banishment. This did not last long, as the imp was back in a few hours. I had previously informed the imp that it needed to leave Drache, as demons are to be driven off on sight. This second time, I approached the imp before it could engage any other patrons, and kindly asked it to leave once again. It then asked me where it could find "the slave market", and I told it that slaves were illegal, and so was it, asking a third time for the demon to leave for its home place peacefully. It refused, insinuated that I was a slave, and I decided that it was not going to be cooperative, and engaged it with my sword. After a short but brutal duel that ended in a temporary reprieve, I once more asked it to leave, which it finally decided to do--cursing all the way, and insisting that I had "made a terrible enemy". This imp was not the typically dull kind, and was apparently a magic user of some kind, and I suspect that it will come back at some point in the future. Though it is, at the very least signed and sealed by the young Arms-Recruit herself.* ** ** The 14th day of Sun's Dusk, 477 As I completed my shift this morning, I decided to stop in at the Black Dragon Inn, to enjoy something warming to drink before returning to the barracks. Unfortunately, I was not to be able to enjoy that drink. There was an implike creature (description of Skreen) using a skull to translate it's words into the common tongue, harrassing a woodsman (description of Chains Vaughn) who had an infant child in his care. I informed the creature that it would either have to be silent and cease harrassing the other patrons, or leave. It responded with harsh words, and spat what appeared to be some sort of acidic substance at my feet. While I was dealing with this creature, another shot a crossbow bolt at me from the rafters. It was only through the intervention of another patron (description of Jinatsu Kuronu), that I managed to survive that, as the weapon was fired from above and behind. The man drug me out of the path, though I still sustained a minor injury from that. The creature from the rafters descended to initiate battle. Because the creature had tried to kill me, I was forced to respond with deadly force. To my surprise, the manlike demon did not immediately die, even after having a silver edged dagger thrust completely through its throat at the base of its skull, it continued to battle on. It was, at length, subdued and destroyed, but only after I sustained grevious injuries in the battle. I should like to commend those citizens who offered assistance, (descriptions of Jinsatsu Kuronu, and Nikai enclused). Unfortunately, the implike being escaped, after I was forced to depart to seek the aid of healers. We have done what we can, but she will still need rest in order for her body to complete the healing process properly. However, I fear that she will not heed our recommendations. I also suspect that she will downplay her injuries. Were it not for the assistance of the man who brought her two us, Recruit Silad would have died. She had been impaled with a dull edged, serrated sword, which we have and will present if you so desire.* -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Message-ID: <817841.6917.qm@web59113.mail.re1.yahoo.com> At about noon on , an imp entered the Black Dragon Inn. This imp () has been seen and driven off before, with little effect. Fortunately, Ravynetti Tivaurd was in the bar at the time, and engaged the imp. At some point after this engagement, the imp killed a man, and Ravynetti enlisted the aid of a member of the National Patron Corp, in the Defense Force (also known as the "NPC Defense Force") to find a guard. I responded to the disturbance, assessed the situation, and quickly engaged the demon after it began some sort of magic ritual in the inn. It was quite distracted by its ritual, and was an easy target for my sword strike, which killed it. Unfortunately, it dissolved into a puddle of corrosive ooze once killed, which ate through most of my sword. The remains are currently being stored in an unbreakable jar on my desk in the main guardhouse, for lack of any better alternative. I will need to requisition a new sword, one my size. This was the last one in the armory of the proper length. --Armswoman Kypree ____________________________________________________________________________________ Never miss a thing. Kirin Arnise: I contacted the Lord Chancellor and asked him to investigate the concerns raised by your memorandum written on 14. XI. 477 since it concerned the conduct of a Magistrate. Attached is a copy of his findings. I believe that this adequately addresses the concerns you raised, but if any outstanding issues remain, please bring them to my attention. Me enxenim, Lucius von Stahl Captain of the Royal Guard [Seal affixed] -------------------- Unto Lucius von Stahl, Captain of the Royal Guard in Drache, greetings and salutations. Captain, I have completed the investigation undertaken at your behest concerning the matter of one Ynros Shinkibi, a griffon currently incarcerated in the Guardhouse's dungeon levels. This has proven to be a very complex issue, and it has taken me considerable effort to untangle the knot and get to the heart of the matter. The results of my investigation and the conclusions drawn from it are thus: 1. Vorfon Shinkibi delivered was charged with assault for the excessive force used in apprehending an individual who was an admitted accomplice of the drow Zah Karin, but who was not wanted for any crime. We do not wish to encourage vigilantes to capture individuals not wanted by the Crown in the hopes of collecting a bounty if charges are levied. The Honorable Wolfram ul-Gregory Jaksan conducted the trial of Vorfon Shinkibi on 9. XI. 477 and convicted him to assault. Vorfon Shinkibi was sentenced to ten lashes and a fine of 100 crowns, to be carried out the following day at dawn. 2. Following his sentencing, Vorfon Shinkibi attempted to bargain with Magistrate Jaksan, and revealed information concerning his dealings with Zah Karin. He claimed that he was to meet Zah Karin two days hence and aid him in attacking a target that would allegedly cause his bounty to skyrocket. Vorfon Shinkibi stated that he was being paid a sum of five hundred crowns to engage the target's bodyguard and keep him occupied while the drow did his reprehensible work. He did not know who the target was, or where or when the attack would take place. He sought citizenship for himself and his brother in return for this information, but Magistrate Jaksan replied that any considerations of citizenship were contingent on his capture of Zah Karin. Magistrate Jaksan also warned him to remember who his target was--that is, Zah Karin, and not to let the assassination plot proceed. 3. The information provided by Vorfon Shinkibi was faulty, as the attack on Vorfon Resque Maessen did not occur two days hence, but the following day on 10. XI. 477, scant hours after his release from the Guardhouse following his flogging. Due to the dubious nature of Vorfon Shinkibi's motivations for sharing information concerning the attack and the vague nature of the details involved, Magistrate Jaksan did not feel it imperative to inform the Guard immediately of the details of his conversation, but did pass them along the following day when he filed his report of the trial. However, by the time the information of a possible high profile assassination attempt reached the Guardhouse, the attack on Vorfon Maessen was already underway on the roads outside the city. I cannot say whether the outcome would have been any different had the Royal Guard received notice earlier, as the most critical part of Vorfon Shinkibi's information was wrong. Still, this could just as easily have been my carriage or that of the Sithire that was attacked, and I will speak to Magistrate Jaksan about sharing information with the Royal Guard promptly. * 4. On 12. XI. 477, Vorfon Shinkibi was apprehended by the bounty hunter Jinnai Halfmoor and brought to the Guardhouse for the collection of a bounty. Vorfon Halfmoor had in his possession a copy of the bounty list which was slightly out of date, and still listed Vorfon Shinkibi's bounty for assault. He was attempting the collect this bounty, which should have been stricken from the list when Shinkibi was originally convicted by Magistrate Jaksan several days earlier. Lt. Lay`Trayin ordered him held on suspicion of his involvement in the death of Resque Maessen. Due to the confusion over the nature of his apprehension for a bounty that was no longer eligible for collection, Vorfon Shinkibi was released without being charged or tried. * Since the error concerning the bounty was due to an oversight on the Chancellery's part, Vorfon Halfmoor may collect the amount of the bounty from the Chancellery at his convenience. * 5. Vorfon Shinkibi was thankfully apprehended once more soon after his erroneous release, at which point Lt. Arnise requested an investigation into these events. As it concerned the conduct of a Magistrate, I was brought into the matter and conducted interviews with the parties involved, including Vorfon Shinkibi in his cell at the Guardhouse. I have determined that there is sufficient cause to try Ynros Shinkibi as an accomplice to the murder of Resque Maessen. The Honorable Julius ul-Arduin Malbraxa will preside. As the accused is a native of Secca and therefore a subject of King Karos V of Griffon's Aerie, I will be meeting with the ambassador from the court of King Karos, Tespin Sofia Petribi, tomorrow to insure that there will be no diplomatic repercussions stemming from the trial and possible sentencing of a griffon for a crime of this magnitude. The present situation with the Restara merits the extra caution. * I remain the servant of the Crown and the People of Arangoth. An Menxvan aptentrix ai Arangoth. * Me enxenim, Marcion ul-Fenduth Tagran Aldenbar Lord Chancellor of Arangoth 29. XI. 477. [Chancellery Seal Affixed] --------- Notes: This situation came with a host of OOC problems to go along with the IC mess, and explanations are provided where I think they're needed. 1. - Ynros' trial was conducted late at night, and Wolfram's mun didn't write a report before going to bed for the night. By the time he came online the following day, the assassination scene was already underway. 2. - This is the big OOC miscommunication that Wolfram told me about when I originally got involved in all of this. Ynros talked to Wolfram in msg, and Wolfram misunderstood what was going on regarding Ynros' re-arrest and incarceration. Wolfram told him that there was no reason to hold him and that he could play his character in the IC channel again. 3. It was my screw-up for not telling JD that Ynros had already been tried for assault before he posted the bounty list. 4. - The Restara is an important religious figure in Griffon's Aerie. The current Restara is a young Griffoness named Nikea who is betrothed to King Karos. She is presently staying in Drache and studying at the Royal University against the Griffon Court's wishes, a situation which has been the source of ongoing diplomatic tension between Arangoth and Griffon's Aerie. 5.
